Each year, proponents of equal pay recognize the wage disparity between women and men by observing Equal Pay Day, recognized this year on March 12th to signify the point into the new year that a woman must work to make what a man made the year before.

We will hold our event a week after Equal Pay Day (due to Spring Break) on March 19 from 5 – 7 PM at Solum Lang’s Office, 1101 Old Marion Rd NE, Cedar Rapids. We are lucky to have a guest speaker this year! Erin Nathan, with Simmons Perrine Moyer Bergman, specializes in employment + labor laws and will be discussing important topics with us including:

• equal pay laws that protect employees from being paid less than counterparts due to sex/gender

• what to look out for

• how to advocate for yourself

• next steps if your employer doesn’t fix the problem
