Panel Event
February 4th
As designers, we know that a strong, growing region needs a healthy city center in order to thrive. For many residents of neighborhoods in the capital core of Des Moines, there are gaps in opportunity, access, and security. Many of these inequalities tie back to the use of redlining maps from the mid-1900s that created urban plans that segregated communities, further instilling racism and inequality in our cities.
Iowa Women in Architecture is excited to have a thoughtful conversation about the impact of redlining, the current state of urban core communities, how they impact Greater Des Moines, and opportunities for designers to be part of the solution. Please join us for a virtual panel event aimed to help IAWIA support our vision of empowering our members through education and recognition and ensuring a sustainable future for all women involved in all aspects of the built environment.
