Reconnecting Muscatine | 2018| Muscatine, IA

Muscatine, Iowa, historically known as the “The Button Factory of the World”, rooted in industrial beginnings that shaped the city’s growth along the Mississippi River. Accessibility challenges, dangerous railroad crossings, and aging infrastructure have historically plagued the 1.6-mile corridor. Reconnecting Muscatine created a safe, pedestrian-friendly corridor and reconnection to the Mississippi River.

Corporate Member Project Spotlight: CMBA Architects

Graettinger-Terril High School Addition/Renovation | 2020 | Graettinger, IA

The Graettinger-Terril Community School District was in need of security enhancements, updated science, ag, and shop areas, and a regulation-sized gym to allow for a higher occupancy for competitive sports attendance.  Together with their team, Courtney Koch and Mackenzie Ashland designed a 39,000 SF addition to create flexible, 21st-century learning spaces that allowed for multiple uses throughout the day for students, as well as usable areas for the public for after-school events and activities.

Des Moines Metra Opera | 2019 | Indianola, IA

IAWIA Director of Accounts Annamarie Snider of @OPNarchitects led the historic renovation and addition to this 108-year old Carnegie Library, home to @DesMoinesMetroOpera Administration. The addition respects the original architecture while allowing more space for educational outreach and community engagement events.

Corporate Member Project Spotlight: Neumann Monson Architects

The Tuesday agency | 2020 | Iowa City, IA

The Tuesday Agency is a full-service lecture agency that represents a premier group of professional authors, journalists, historians, artists, and scholars and connects them to audiences all over the world where their voices can have the greatest impact. Interior Designer Amy Guhl guided the agency through a collaborative process to define their spatial needs while carefully curating the material palette and injecting the space with eclectic whimsy and a strong sense of quality. The resultant bricolage is a haven for inquisitive minds and lively conversations. The project received the 2020 IIDA Great Plains Chapter Best in Show Award and a 2020 AIA Central States Excellence in Design Merit Award - Interior Category.
